Kids and Chiropractic: Our Specialty

Ear Infections respond to chiropractic and to diet changes!  Chiropractic works!

6 Ways to Reduce the Risk of Ear Infections

1. Eliminate dairy products from the diet.  Allergies to dairy are common in children with recurrent ear infections.

2. Add vitamin C, which can reduce symptoms of colds and flu, to your child's diet.  Use probiotics.  We recommend Udo's Infant Probiotics or American Health Chewable Probiotics, both dairy-free.

3.  Reduce or eliminate refined sugars (sucrose, high-fructose corn syrup) from the diet; they can supress immune cells.

4. Buy organically produced meats, vegetables and fruits whenever possible.

5.  Breast-feed your baby.  It can reduce the risk of ear infections by half.  The position of a child during breast feeding discourages fluid retention in the ears.

6.  Chiropractic care for kids -- Gottfried Gutmann, M.D. (Germany), examined over 1000 children and found neck subluxations to cause an increase in susceptibility to infection of the ear, nose, and throat.  He states that "the success of adjustment overshadows every other type of treatment, especially the pharmaceutical approach."

Backpack Safety

When it's time to buy a new backpack PLEASE buy one that is safe for your child's growing spine.  New statistics show that 1/3rd of all adolescents suffer from back pain, and even kids who have no symptoms are putting incredible strain on their backs if they are carrying more than 10% of their body weight in their backpack!  Bad adult posture, scoliosis, headaches, are the most common result of backpack injury.

So what is a safe backpack?  There are 3 kinds we recommend. 1st is the new 'rolling' backpack, that is pulled along like a suitcase.  2nd is a regular backpack, which is worn using both shoulder straps AND a new design... a waist belt.  3rd is same as #2 but even better, a backpack with built-in shelves to help distribute weight more evenly!

Happy shopping.  Please pass this information to your friends, and help save a child's spine, today!

Ritalin Overprescribed & Dangerous, Study Says

Several million children each day line up at the school nurse's office to receive their Ritalin prescription, in the attempt to reduce their supposed hyperactivity.  New research published in the American Journal of Public Health suggests that as much as 50% of the Ritalin prescriptions are not necessary, and there is growing evidence that the drug can cause permanent damage to the child's brain and its function!

Damaging effects such as decreased brain flow, disruption of growth hormone, depression, insomnia, addictive behavior, agitation, and worst of all, possible brain tissue shrinkage, all may be caused by this dangerously over prescribed drug.

Most children have been identified as hyperactive by teachers and then been badly misled by drug company advertising that drugs are the answer.  How about better diet, parenting skills, and chiropractic?
